Motion passed. <br /> <br />TEXT AMENDMENT – ZONING CODE CHAPTERS 907 AND 914 – <br />MICROUNITS/SACRED SETTLEMENTS <br />The Community Development Director presented background information on the issue of <br />microunits/sacred settlements and the requirement by the State for cities to incorporate this <br />language into their Code, allowing this use within specific zoning areas. She reviewed details of <br />eligibility and requirements, and minimum standards for settlements. She stated that the City <br />Council will hold the public hearing for this item at its February 28th meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Carlson-Clark asked the process that a church would follow should they desire <br />this type of use. <br /> <br />The Community Development Director stated that because this would become a permitted use, a <br />church would need to submit for a building permit and follow that process, which would include <br />the site plan review at the staff level rather than having to go through public meetings. <br /> <br />Chair Johnson recognized that this is mandated by the State and therefore seems to be <br />straightforward. <br /> <br /> Thorson introduced the following motion: <br /> <br />RECOMMENDING THE APPROVAL OF A TEXT AMENDMENT TO ZONING <br />CODE CHAPTERS 907 AND 914 RELATED TO MICROUNITS/SACRED <br />SETTLEMENTS <br /> <br /> The foregoing motion was duly seconded by Carlson-Clark. <br /> Ayes (8). Motion passed. <br /> <br />TEXT AMENDMENT – ZONING CODE CHAPTER 916 – SIGN ORDINANCE <br />The Community Development Director referenced the previous update that was done of the <br />Zoning Code, noting that not much work was done on the Sign Code. She stated that since that <br />time staff has identified an area that does not meet industry standards, relating to dynamic signs. <br />She stated that the proposed amendments would address the evolving needs of the community <br />and maintain compatibility with the best practices of the sign industry.
