MINUTES PARKS & REC COMMISSION JUNE 6, 2024 3 Commissioner Hipp commented that she is also excited about the trail connection. She stated that she also enjoyed the Sap Run. She commented that Nadeau would be a great location for a nature play area. Commissioner Mui commented on a recent trip to Boston where he noticed a statute incorporated into their water feature. He stated that he is also excited for the trail connection. Commissioner Williams commented that she visited Thunder Bay the previous day and noticed signs still around the pond from the spraying that took place on May 15th. She asked if the pickleball courts at Spooner have a timeline. The Parks and Recreation Director commented that they are actively pursuing a vendor that could meet the timeline of Canadian Days but have been having a hard time. He commented that the project will be done in 2024. Commissioner Williams commented that she noticed about two weeks where people were fishing daily at the Mill Pond, and has also noticed artist activity. Commissioner Schletty commented that he has taken his sons fishing at Gervais and the Mill Pond and has been visiting a lot of the parks with his kids. Commissioner Churcher asked if there would be a volleyball net added at Pioneer Park in the grass area near the playground. Chair Horwath asked that item be looked into, noting that it does not sound like this will be a 2024 project. It was suggested that this come back as a future agenda item. UPDATES The Parks and Recreation Director stated that the July meeting will be held on July 11th and there will not be an August meeting.
