MINUTES <br />PARKS & REC COMMISSION <br />JUNE 6, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Commissioner Schletty asked if the delay for the water feature has affected the water fountain <br />near the playground, as that has not yet been turned on. <br /> <br />Commissioner Williams commented that the water has not been turned on in the pavilion either. <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Director noted that he would follow up on that. <br /> <br />Commissioner Williams asked for an update on the paving at Thunder Bay. <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Director provided a timeline for that project. He also provided details <br />on the security camera at the park and how that footage could be used to investigate if there were <br />to be vandalism at the park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Owens arrived. <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COORDINATOR HIRING UPDATE <br />The Parks and Recreation Director stated that there were 34 applicants with seven moving <br />forward to an interview, and three returning for a second interview. He stated that an offer was <br />sent to one applicant today, who accepted and therefore the offer will move forward to the City <br />Council next week. He stated that the tentative start date would be the week of June 24th. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br />The Parks and Recreation Director provided an update on the Sap Run and other recent events. <br />He also highlighted upcoming events and activities. He also reviewed upcoming programing <br />opportunities for youth and adults. <br /> <br />REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS <br />Commissioner Churcher commented that she has visited Nadeau frequently and has been seeing <br />a lot of turtles. <br /> <br />Commissioner Delong Miller commented that she volunteered at the Sap Run. She commented <br />that she is excited for the Thunder Bay trail work to be completed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Owens commented that he ran in the Sap Run and is looking forward to bringing <br />his kids to Touch a Truck. He commented that his daughter recently learned to ride her bike and <br />they have been spending a lot of time at Thunder Bay on the trails. <br /> <br />Chair Horwath commented that he is excited about the trail connection at Thunder Bay. <br />
