MINUTES
PARKS & REC COMMISSION
JULY 11, 2024

4

Commissioner Schletty commented that he is happy to see the water feature back up and
running. He commented that the parks and trails are in great shape.

Commissioner Delong Miller commented that she recently visited another community, running
their trail system. She noted that community has downtown Thursdays with food and arts and
craft kiosks. She stated that it would be great to see that type of concept in Little Canada,
suggesting the open space near Culver’s.

The Parks and Recreation Director commented that staff had that discussion today with the
concept of programing that space, as it is City owned property. She noted that Ramsey County
signage has a space for flyers to be posted as well as a QR code that directs users to current
events.

Chair Horwath commented on White Bear Lake’s Market Fest, which runs on Thursday
evenings. He liked the idea of doing something similar in Little Canada, but perhaps on a
different day of the week.

Commissioner Churcher commented that she noticed that the closest water park is in Shoreview
and that is an amenity that is lacking in Little Canada and the surrounding communities.

Chair Horwath noted that there will not be an August meeting.

UPDATES
The Parks and Recreation Director stated that Commissioner Churcher’s term will be expiring
but she has reapplied.

ADJOURN
There being no further business, upon motion by Delong Miller, seconded by Churcher, the
meeting was adjourned at 7:19 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Amanda Staple
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.
