He noted that there could be a multi-use court with an
adjustable net. He confirmed that they would work to schedule a tour.

Commissioner Delong Miller suggested that the Commission take time in the future to review
the Master Plan to ensure it still aligns with the direction of the Commission.

Chair Horwath agreed, noting that the reach of the Parks Commission is larger than ever as the
park facilities are being used more than ever before, and therefore this would be a good time to
review that Master Plan.

NEW BUSINESS

RECREATION COORDINATOR UPDATE
The Recreation Coordinator reviewed upcoming events and activities as well as recreation
programing opportunities for both youth and adults.

Chair Horwath welcomed the Recreation Coordinator on behalf of the Commission.

PARKS SYSTEM UPDATE
The Parks and Recreation Director provided a status update on the different park improvement
projects. He also reviewed details on the potential replacement of the boardwalk, which would
be a shared project with a neighboring community.

Commissioner Owens commented that given the anticipated timing of replacement, perhaps
some boards could be replaced sooner to make for safer conditions.

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Owens commented that he was unable to attend the Music in the Park event, but
heard great feedback. He looked forward to the Ice Cream Social and trail connection.

Commissioner Mui commented that he enjoyed the Music in the Park and Art in the Park event.
He noted that the water feature is also a popular amenity in the community and residents are
happy that it is up and running again. He stated that there was a ton of thistles in the playground
area at Thunder Bay Westwind have been cleaned up and that new woodchips were installed.

Commissioner Williams commented that she is volunteering with Vadnais Heights through their
parks steward program and will be taking a tour with the watershed. She stated that she is also
completing a survey with the U of M.

Chair Horwath commented that the playground box at Thunder Bay Westwind has been filled
and looks well maintained.
