MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 2024 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 5th day of September, 2024 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br /> <br />Acting Chair Churcher called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />Parks & Recreation Commission were present at roll call: <br /> <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION: Delong Miller, Hipp, Mui, Owens, Schletty, <br />Williams, Churcher. Absent: Horwath. <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Parks and Recreation Director Steve Anderson, and Recreation Coordinator <br />Emelie Lindabaur <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Commissioner Williams made a motion to approve the July 11, 2024 Parks & Recreation <br />Commission minutes as submitted. Commissioner Delong Miller seconded the motion. The <br />motion was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />PICKELBALL CONVERSION AND COURT RESURFACING <br />The Parks and Recreation Director provided an update on the court resurfacing project. He <br />stated that the current facilities at Spooner are multi-purpose for tennis and pickleball courts and <br />are being converted to exclusive pickleball use, while the multi-purpose courts at Pioneer are <br />being converted to exclusive tennis use. He reported that Thunder Bay, Pioneer, and Rondeau <br />basketball courts are all being resurfaced as well. <br /> <br />YOUTH COMMISSIONER APPOINTMENT <br />The Parks and Recreation Director reported that Youth Commissioners serve terms of one-year, <br />from August 1st to July 31st, with a maximum of three terms. He stated that Commissioner <br />Churcher submitted for reappointment and was approved to serve an additional one-year term, <br />noting that this will be her third and last term on the Commission. He stated that they would <br />begin to solicit the Youth Commissioner term this winter in order to fill the position by August 1, <br />2025. <br /> <br />WAYFINDING SUBCOMMITTEE <br />The Parks and Recreation Director stated that the subcommittee finalized the Pioneer Park <br />wayfinding sign. He stated that all wayfinding signs are due for 2025, but Pioneer Park signage <br />was required as part of the grant funding package. He reviewed the features of the Pioneer Park <br />sign.
