t4Ii'IUTES
City Council
(Cont'd,)
January 24, 1980
¢rad Nielson stated that the next thing for the Planning Commission
and Council to review is the proposed Zoning Ordinance. The Council
and Planning Commission have already reviewed the first two major
sections of the Ordinance. and Mr. Nielson will go through the
recommended changes in these two sections tonight.
Mr. Nielson submitted to those present a table regulating parking
lot dimensions. Per. Nielson suggested that this table be reviewed
for possible substitution of the table presently included on page
22 of tl~e proposed Zoning Ordinance. The table P1r. Nielson is
suggesting the Council and Planning Commission adopt is more Flexible
than the previous one suggested.
Next Mr. Nielson submitted to those present a section covering home
occupations. The Planner feels that home occupations should be
addressed in the proposed Zoning Ordinance. Under this proposed
section, ail home occupations would require a permit. However,
only certain home occupation permits would require Council action.
Councilman De¢ace stated that he was not in favor of licensing home
occupations unless they became a nuisance.
¢rad Nielson stated that the Council and Planning Commission should look
this over and if it is too restrictive, it can be changed. Mr. Nielson
is suggesting this home occupation section be included in the Zoning
Ordinance under the General Provisions Section.
Mr. Nielson then submitted to the Council and Planning Commission a
section to be included in the proposed Zoning Ordinance covering
signs. ~tielson stated that the Planning Comrission and Council may
feel this section is too restrictive, but should review it and make
any recommendations they feel necessary.
Mr. Nielson then began the review of the suggestions that the Council
and Planning Commission have previously made with regard to the
proposed Zoning Ordinance.
Mr. Fahey stated that the wording "Zoning Administrator" under
Section 901.040 was questioned previously. Mr. Nielson stated that
anyone could be appointed as Zoning Administrator. Then if the City
at a later date decides to hire a Zoning Administrator, the ordinance
would not have to be changed to provide for this position.
Mr. Nielson stated that the typographical error on page a would be
corrected to read "exits".
Mr. Nielson stated that the word "non-conforming" would be added to
Section 903.010 under point 6 as suggested.
Page -3-
