MINUTES
City Council
March 4, 1980
Councilman DeBace suggested that the City might be able to purchase the
building from the School Board on a contract-for-deed.
Councilman Fahey stated that instead of holding a special election for
the purpose of purchasing the school building, if it was put on the
November election, the City would get the best turn-out possible due
to the Presidential election.
Councilman DeBace stated that as long as the City is taking positive
steps towards purchasing the building, the School Board would wait for
the City's decision.
Councilman Fahey stated that the deadline for getting block grants for
1980 has passed, but the City could begin work on applying fora block
grant to purchase the building in 1981.
Scalze reported that block grants are not available for purchase of
city offices, but they are available for acquiring neighborhood centers.
Attorney Parks stated that he did not see where there would be much
interest from anyone other than the City in purchasing the Old Little
Canada School Building.
Mayor Hanson stated that the Attorney would proceed with getting prices
on appraisals of the building. Once the Council gets this information, it
will proceed from there.
Adjourn Mr. Nadeau introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 80-3-104 - ADJOURNING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Per.
