MINUTES CITY Council (Cont.) April 9, 1980 Extra Councilman DeBace informed the Council that the Utility Department Water has a couple of extra 8-inch water meters it would like to sell. The Meters St. Paul Mater Department will give the City $835.00 for both meters. The Utility Department feels if they can find a buyer for the meters, the meters would bring $2,000.00 each. Councilman DeBace suggested that the Utility Department advertise the mete=''~ sor s~1e _i.~~ the Water Works Magazine and the Minnesota Cities Magazine. Ramsey Mayor Hanson informed the Council that at a recent meeting with the County County he was informed that the County will not act on any problems in the City unless they have a letter from the City outlining the problems and requesting action. Some of the points of concern the City has include a pedestrian crossing near St. John's Church and on Centerville Road near the Montreal Courts Apartments, a bike trail along Gervais beach, the trimming of the bushes along the Boys en property, and a 4-way stop at LaBore Road and Edgerton. Mr. DeBace introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 80-4-153 - INSTRUCTING TFIE CITY CLERK TO SEND A LETTER TO THE COUNTY OUTLINING ANY CONCERNS OR PROBLEMS THE CITY FIAS TNAT THE CITY WOULD LIKE THE COUNTY TO RESOLVE The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Nadeau. Ayes (5) DeBace, Nadeau, Hanson, Fahey, Scalze. Nayes (0). Resolution declared adopted. This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 98. Park Councilwoman Scalze stated that the Park Commission would like to ca17 Improvements for bids for some improvements to be made in Spooner Park. These improvements were budgeted for for 1980. They include $25,000 for trails, $9,000 for lighting for the tennis courts, $750 for benches for the tennis courts, and $1,000 for trees for the amphitheatre area. The Park Commission is also considering using $5,000 that was budgeted for parking lot surfacing to construct a fence which would prevent vehicles from driving off Eli Road into the Park. Mrs. Scalze informed the Council that the School Board may pay for the cost of the fence. The Park Commission will work with the School board on this. Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 80-4-154 - AUTHORIZING THE PARK COMMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR TRAILS FOR SPOONER PARK AND FOR LIGHTING OF THE TENNIS COURTS IN SPOONER PARK Page -15-
