<br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> City Council <br /> (Cont.) <br /> <br /> April 9, 1980 <br /> Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 80-4-157 - APPROVING TFIE PROFESSIONAL <br /> PLANNING SERVICES CONTRACT WITH NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED <br /> CONSULTANTS <br /> TFIE foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br /> Ayes (5) Fahey, Hanson, Scalze, DeBace, Nadeau. <br /> Hayes (O). <br /> Resolution declared adopted. <br /> This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 100. <br /> Senior Councilman Fahey reported that the Council received a letter from Mr. <br /> Citizen Rice of the Archdiocese which is se lf-explanatory. <br /> Housing <br /> Fahey suggested that the Council reconsider the Scheier property as a <br /> site for senior citizen housing. The Council could consider using <br /> the services of Northwest Associated Consultants in applying for a <br /> grant to purchase the property. Fahey felt a grant might be obtained <br /> under the small cities program. The deadline for grant applications <br /> is August. Fahey suggested that the Attorney could negotiate with <br /> Scheier for an option on his R-3 property. <br /> Councilman Nadeau stated that the whole matter should be turned over <br /> to an independent contractor. Nadeau stated that the Council already <br /> turned down senior citizen housing in the Jackson Street-Little Canada <br /> Road area. <br /> Fahey stated that a private developer could still come in with a proposal. <br /> Fahey would like the City to look into getting grant funds for this <br /> proposal. <br /> Nadeau stated that the Council would still vote down the senior citizen <br /> housing. <br /> Scalze stated that Mr. Nichols felt the Scheier property was the prime <br /> site for the senior citizen housing development. <br /> Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 80-4-158 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> TO CONTACT MR. SCHEIER INQUIRING IF HE WILL GIVE THE CITY <br /> AN OPTION TO PURCHASE THE R-3 PROPERTY WHICH FIE OWNS AND <br /> INSTRUCTING THE CITY CLERK TO CONTACT NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED <br /> CONSULTANTS TO SEE WHAT PROPOSAL THEY COULD GIVE THE CITY IN <br /> TERMS OF COSTS FOR SERVICES FOR APPLYING FOR A GRANT FOR THE <br /> CITY TO PURCHASE THE SCFIEIER PROPERTY UNIDER THE SMALL CITIES <br /> GRANT PROGRAM <br /> The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. <br /> Ayes (4) Fahey, Scalze, DeBace, Flanson. <br /> Hayes (1) Nadeau. <br /> Resolution declared adopted. <br /> This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 101. <br /> Page -17- <br /> <br />
