MINUTES
City Council
July 30, 1980
The Planner suggested that perhaps the park dedication fee that would be
required of Mr. Schrier could become a negotiating point. Councilman
DeBace stated that he was not in favor of negotiating on this fee as it
is not a negotiable point with the individual homeowner.
Councilman Fahey stated that Schrier should come up with a plan that
would include 135 units of density with a roadway across the property to
the east' and with the senior citizen housing being located on County
Road C.
The Planner asked the Council how they felt about the apartment issue.
Mr. Schrier is proposing ~artment units in his proposals.
Councilman Fahey asked if the City was better off with 145 to 150 units
without the apartments or 135 units with an apartment building. Fahey
stated that he was not opposed to the higher density without the apartments.
Councilman DeBace stated that Schrier is asking for more than he really
wants just to end up with what he wants.
Mayor Hanson stated that Mr. Schrier would also have to have an environmental
impact study done.
Councilman DeBace suggested that the Planner go back to Schrier and indicate
that the Council does not want to go for much more than it has already
proposed, and see what Schrier's reaction is. Mayor Hanson also suggested
that the Planner mention the environmental impact study that would have to
be done.
The Planner also pointed out that Schrier is suggesting the small triangular
piece of property on County Road C be developed for office use. Mr. Nielson
asked if the Council was agreeable with this. Fahey stated that this was
fine with him. Councilman DeBace also felt this would be acceptable with
the traffic situation of the area.
Council also indicated to the Planner that the subject of the development
of the Schrier property be made a part of the Housing Plan so that the Planner's
fees could become refundable.
There being no further business the Council and the Planning Commission
adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathleen Glanzer
Recording Secretary
Page -7-
