It was requested that the letter
become a part of the City's legal documents. The City Clerk stated
that this letter would be marked Clerk's Exhibit 461.
The resident from Schletty Drive also questioned the public notice that
appeared in the Little Canada Press regarding the improvement hearing.
The Engineer stated that the first notice that appeared in the paper
did not contain all the necessary information. However, the notice of
the assessment hearing was published thiree times, grid the two subsequent
notices were complete.
The residents of Schletty's L+loods also questioned why the double-fronting
lots along Little Canada Road and Schletty Drive were being included in
the assessments for the Little Canada Road improvement. These residents
wanted to know whether the lots were considered to front on Little Canada
Road or on Schletty Drive.
The Engineer stated that Lots 1 and 2, Block 1 are not double-fronting
lots and these two lots front on Little Canada Road. The City Clerk
stated that Lots 5 and 6, Block 2 should not have been included in 'the
improvement as they are on the opposite side of Noel Drive from the
improvement.
The City Clerk also informed the Council that Lot 2, B].ock 2 is hooked
up to City water on Little Canada Road.
Mrs. Bev Germain, owner. of Lot 1, Block 2 appeared before the Council.
Mrs. Germain stated that she was told she could not hook up 'to City
water on Little Canada Road. Therefore, she installed a well at a cost
of over x;2,600. Mrs. Germain requested that the Council delete the
assessment against her property for the watermain improvement on Little
Canada Road and make restitution to her for the $2,600 cost of the well
she had installed.
The Attorney stated that if the Council assessed the lots in question
for improvement 78-10 on Little Canada Roadf if water was put in Schletty
Drive at a later time, the other people in Schletty's 6doods would have
to bear a greater cost.
Councilman Nadeau stated that it was a mistake to allow the owners of
Lot 2, Block 2 to hook up to the water on Little Canada Road. Nadeau
stated that the water was put in on Little Canada Road to get the water
to Edgerton.
Paae -4-
