MINUTES
City Council
December 10, 1980
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 80-12-a,60 - DELETING THE A & W VARIANCE
REQUEST
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Fahey, DeBace, Hanson, Nadeau.
Nayes (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 296.
10,000 The City Clerk reported that the 10,000 Auto Parts proposal has been
Auto Parts held up for lack of money. P4r. Jacl< Walsh has also informed the Clerk
that he does not know when this proposal will get underway.
Therefore, it was the concensus of the Council that this matter he tabled
indefinitely.
St. Jude's Mayor Hanson reported that the Planning Commission has recommended
Medical that the Council grant final approval of Phase I of St. Jude's Medical
building plans. The Planning Commission has also recommended that the
Council stay on top of the traffic conditions on Rice Street and Viking
Drive. The Planner has also made a report on the project.
Mayor Flanson also informed the Council that St. Jude's would like to
postpone extending the road from Viking Drive to County Road B-2 and
looping the water service from Viking Drive to County Road B-2 until
Phase II development.
Councilman Fahey asked if fire protection would be adequate without the
water service looped at this time.
The Engineer stated that he recommends that the water service be eventually
looped. The Engineer informed the Council that an 8-inch water line
when it was looped would provide adequate pressure for fire protection.
Fahey stated that the Council should have something on the record that the
water line should be looped when the road is extended.
The Engineer stated that there would be adequate pressure for fire protection
without the water line looped. The only difference is that you would be
depending on one line rather than two. The Engineer also recommended that
an easement be provided to bring the water line from Minnesota Street over
to the St. Jude's property.
Mr. Bob Burrows, the architect for St. Jude's, stated that cost is the
problem in looping the water line now, and St. Jude's would prefer to do
it in a year or two. Mr. Burrows also felt that to loop the water line
to Minnesota Street would mean fighting many contours in the land. Mr.
Burrows also informed the Council that St. Jude's would rather not have
easements as such for the water line.
Page -2-
