If the Council purchases the insurance coverage,
the Council should authorize the City to pick up the cost of the deductible
to the extent allowed by law.
Rocky Mayor hlanson informed the Council that the hear~ng notice on the Rocky
Waite Waite rezoning indicated that the property was zonecl R-3. The proposed
Property razoning was indicated as R-2. Mayor Hanson indfcated that it was the
Ruth Str. intent of the Council for the proposed rezoning to be for F-1.
Mr. Fahey stated that the last hearing was to go from R-3 to PUfI R-2,
That hearing was he7d. Council then intended to call for a hearing for
R-7, The notice should be for R-1.
The Planner stated that if this was the Council's intent, the hearing should
be repub1ished.
Mrs. Nardini indicated that the City has a proposal for the cost of the
appraisa1s on the Ruth Street Property, the Schrier property, and the
property on Viking Drive for $400 per appraisal. Estimates have also
been made that the down-zoning of these properties could cost the City
$500,000. The City hasn`t got this kind of money. Mrs. Nardini questioned
whether the City should have the appraisals done.
Mr, Forsberg stated that he would l~ke to have the appraisals done.
Mrs, Sca7ze commented that the Ruth Street property that is next to the
railroad tracks is not a real desirab]e piece of R-1 property, Mrs.
Scalze felt the Waite proposa1 would be a good transit9onal use.
Mayor Hanson agreed that what Mr, Waite is proposing is better than
apartment bui1dings.
The City Clerk indicated that R-2 zoning would a11ow duplexes, The C1erk
also stated that the Council authorized the hearings at the January 2f3 meeting.
At the February 11 meeting the C,ouncil talked about goin~ from R-3 to R-2
on the Waite prnperty,
Page -II-
