Dennis Forsberg
Councilwoman Mrs. Mugs Narclini
Counci1woman Mrs. 6everly Scalze
AL50 PRFSENT: City Clerk Mr. Joseph Chlebeck
City Flttorney Mr. Clayton Parks
Recording Secretary Mrs. Kathleen Glanzer
Public Mayor Flanson opened the public hearing on the proposed rezoning of
Nearing Lots 1 through 22, Block 5, Round Lake Flddition, and Lots 1 through
Rezon~ing 8, Block 2, Round Lake Flddition, from 6-3, General Business, to R-1
Of Fl S9ngle Fami1y Residential. Mr. Hanson indicated that the rezoning was
Portion init~iated by Council action and wou7d require a 4/5th's vote of the
Of Council to pass.
Ro~mci
Lake Mr. forsberg indicated that the property is being used as R-1 and he
Flddition would like to see the property rezoned accordingly. Forsberg stated
that the lots in th9s area are too small for the operation of a business.
Mrs. Pechler, a property owner in the area, stated that she was not
opposed to the rezoning.
Cathy Clemons, another property owner in the area, asked the Council
for a c7arification as to their reasoning for the rezoning.
Mayor Hanson replied that the property does not lend 9tself for business
use due to its size. Nanson also stated that this is a down-zoning of
the property and if the property is rezoned, it wi11 not effect the taxes
on the property.
Mrs. ~lardini ~nformed the property owners that the rezoning is more of
a housekeeping matter, as the property is being used as R-1 property,
the Gouncil would like the zoning to reflect this.
Mrs. Sca7ze also indicated that the rezoning is a safety feature ~or the
residents to ensure that the property continue to be used as R-1.
Mr. Forsberg 9nformed the audience that iander the City's present ord9nances
if a house burned doti~n in this area, it could not be rebuilt because under
the B-3 zon9ng, the house would be a non-conforming use. Forsberg also
stated that with R-7 zoning, the business property across ~he street wou1d
have more restrictict~sas to the type of development that could go in.
Page -1-
