MINUTES <br />City Council <br />April 22, 1981 <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIQN N0. 87-4-195 - APPROVING THE PURCHFlSE OF TNE <br />PUBLIC OFFICIFlLS LIABILITY COVERAGE fOR THE CITY OF LITTLE <br />CANADA bIITH ~ THREE-YEAR PRE-PAID PREMTUM IN THE FlMOUNT OF <br />$II,278 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br />Ayes (5) fahey, Hanson, Nardini, Scatze, Forsberg. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution d.eclared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Qook No. 7, Page 129. <br />Mrs. Scalze asked Mr. McNamara if the City contracted with the Little <br />Canada Day Care Center to use their tennis courts, if the City would be <br />covered. Mr. McNamara replied that this would be covered as any City <br />faci7ity would be. However, the owner of the Day Care Center may want <br />his name added as covered under the cost of clefense. <br />Mrs. Scalze asked about the playground facilities, that the City would <br />not be contracting for. Mr. McNamara replied that it would be better <br />to include everything in the City's coverage. <br />Parks Mr. Bi11 Sanders of the Parks Commission appeared before the Council. <br />Commission Mr. Sanders presented to the Council a park and recreation plan for the <br />Presentation City. This plan was developed from the survey that the Commission made <br />of the citizens of Little Canada concerning the development of parks in <br />Little Canada. <br />The Park Commission is proposing a trail system for the C~ty and a <br />nature study type of activities area. The Park Commission is also <br />proposing that Spooner Park remain the only large community park in <br />the City. The trail system that is proposed would connect several <br />small neighborhood parks that are being suggested. <br />Mr. Sanders also reported that the Park Commission has been looking at <br />the Turnquist property and will discuss their interest in the property <br />with the Turnquist's. The Park Commission would like to concentrate <br />on getting the Turnqu9st property and also property that is needed <br />under the power lines for the trail system. <br />Mayor Hanson questioned whether the Park Commission would deal with <br />NSP or the individual property owners regard9ng the property under the <br />power lines. The Attorney stated that it may be necessary to deal <br />with both. <br />Lois Runyon stated that the Park Commission has talked to NSP about two <br />parcels of land they own, and they have no objection to the trail system. <br />Mr~ Nardini asked if the Park Comm9ssion had any idea what the Turnquist <br />property would cost. Mr. Sanders replied that the Parks Commission is <br />thinking about a donation situation for this property. <br />Page -11- <br />
