MINUTES <br />City Council <br />September 30, 1981 <br />Mrs. Nardini expressed concern that the money collected by the <br />P.ecreation Department for activities fees 4s not going through the <br />City budget. <br />Mrs. Scalze commented that the P,ecreation Association publishes <br />its operating expenses. This money goes into the Rec Association <br />and out of the Rec Association. <br />Mr. Fahey stated that he thinks a lot of the criticism people <br />express is unjustifiecl. <br />Mrs. Nardini stated that the City needs some clearer records. <br />N1r. ~orsberg commented that there is no harm in asking questions. <br />Fahey suggested that perhaps the City shou7d hire the Recrea~ion <br />Association and contract with them to prov~de the recreational <br />services for the City. <br />Hanson commented that he would like to see a combination of the <br />parks and recreation. There is overlapping of the two in the City <br />budget. <br />Mrs. Scalze stated that the City has an existing organization that does <br />provide a lot of volunteer labor. Scalze stated that she does not <br />want to see this system changed. <br />Hanson suggested ~hat perhaps an expanded publication of how much <br />the Recreation Association is subsidizing the City's recreational <br />activities is the answer. Scalze replie~ that the Recreation <br />Association does publish this information. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved ~its a~option: <br />RESOLUTTON N0, 81-9-514 - APPROVING THE PROPOSED BUDGFT <br />FOR 1982 FOR PARKS AND RECREATION PART-TIME EMPLOYEE SFlLARIES <br />WTTH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT JIM MORELAM SURMIT TO THE COUNCIL <br />AN UPDFlTED LIS7 OF EMPLOYFES AND THFlT FlNY NEId EMPLOYEES ADDED, <br />WITFI TH[ EXCEPTION OF THE RIMK SUPERI~lTENDENT, WOULD BE ADDED <br />AT A RFlTE OF $3.35 PER HOUR AND PLFlCED ON A SIX MONThI REVIEW <br />WITH P, YEARLY INCREASE AFTER 7HAT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by P~rs. Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Scalze, Forsberg, Hanson> Mardini. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 7, Page 343. <br />Fire Dept. Mayor Hanson suggested that the Council increase the truck fund <br />Budget portion of the Fire Department budget from $7,000 to $10,000. <br />Hanson indicated that fire protection costs abou~ $10.66 per person <br />in the City. <br />Mr. Hanson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />Page -17- <br />
