MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP SESSION <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANFlDA, MINNESOTA <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop session of the City <br />Council of ~he City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 16th <br />day of December, 1981 in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />December 16, 1981 <br />Acting Mayor, Michael Fahey, called the session to order at 7:35 P,M. <br />and the following were present at roll call. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />Acting Mayor <br />Councilman <br />Councilwanan <br />Councilwoman <br />Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Mr. Dennis Forsberg <br />Mrs. Mugs Nardini <br />Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />MEPQBERS ABSENT <br />ALSO PRESENT <br />Mayor <br />City C1erk <br />Recorciing Secretary <br />Mr. Raymond Hanson <br />Mr. Joseph Chlebeck <br />Mrs. Kathleen Glanzer <br />Interviewing The special work session was called for purposes oP interviewing <br />Of Building applicants for the City's building inspector position. The City <br />Inspector received 21 applications for the position and at a previous Council <br />Job meeting the applications were narrowed down to 5 that the Council <br />Applicants felt were most qualified. These five are to be interviewed at <br />tonight's workshop session. <br />The first applicant interviewed was Edward Locke. Mr. Locke is currently <br />employed by the City of White Bear as a building inspector. However, <br />due to budget cuts his position will be terminated on January 1, 1982. <br />Mr. Locke informed the Council that he was a carpenter for 10 years, <br />but due to an ankle and arm injury he could no longer do this work. <br />Therefore, f4r, Locke went into the building inspector area. <br />Mr. Fahey informed Mr. Locke that the pos~ition the City has is part-time. <br />Mr. Locke commented that part-time work was acceptable to him. Mr. <br />Locke also informed the Council that he does fire inspections. Locke <br />also stated that he did most of the field inspections for White Bear and <br />also does plan review. Mr. Locke also does commercial inspections, <br />however, has not done as much of these as he would like. <br />Mrs. Scalze asked Mr. Locke if he wou7d be w911ing to go through the City's <br />new zoning code and familiarize himself with it. Mr. Loci~ repliecl that <br />that would be necessary as part of the job. <br />Mr. Fahey informed Mr. Locke that the code is new and the City is finding <br />some problems with it. Mr. Locke stated that he has handled zoning <br />violations in the past. <br />Mr. Locke also commented that a benefit package would be helpful. Mrs. <br />Scalze stated that the City presently does not have this for its bui7ding <br />inspector. <br />Page -1- <br />
