Mrs, Nard'ani stated that the CS.ty was not <br />(Cont,) increasing the fees, however, the past builda.ng inspector caas not <br />charging the proper £ees. Last year ~aL~~p00 in fees were taken in <br />and had the proper fees been chaxged~ about $!~0'000 wouLd have been <br />taken in. <br />AKr,Forsberg stated that the permit fees should cover the building <br />inspectorts salary, Fahey stated that he woul,d not feel ~oo ba.dly i.£ <br />the fees did not fully cover the inspector~s salary, In addition, <br />the City will be cha.xging developers for a certain amount o£ the <br />building inspectoros time, Deve~.opers pay a~100 Fee for plan rev9,ews <br />paxt of which goes to the Planner and the rest to the City, <br />A member o.f the audience asked if the City had a fa.re code~ Fahey <br />rep],ied that the City has adopted the State F'ire Code, <br />i~Ir, Swanson sta.ted that he cou].d refnse the inspector admi.ttance <br />for a fire inspection, The only recourse the City zaould have is i£ <br />it licensed its businesses9 the City would be ab1,e to revoke the <br />license, <br />The At~orney stated that he thinks the fire inspector has the right <br />to admittance. <br />Mrs, Nardini commented that this alone wotil.d give the Czty good reason <br />to begin licensing its businesses, <br />Mro Hanson inf ormed the audience that the City a.s not considering <br />licensa.ng its businesses because of revenues generated, but in order <br />to know what businesses are operating 9.n the City and what they are <br />doing, <br />i`lrm Forsberg commented that he did not care if the City charged anything <br />for the ].icense, but feeJ,s the City should know the responsib].e person <br />to contact £or each business and what As going on and what 3s in the <br />building where the business a.s operating, <br />kat Peterson commented that this is a good 5.dea so that the Council knows <br />what is going on 9,n the C3ty, <br />Nir, Hanson asked Mro Swanson i£ the City did not license its bus~.nesses <br />what would be the best way £or the City to obtain this information, <br />PZre Swanson stated that he thinks the City shoul.d license its businesses, <br />but it still turns into taxation, <br />Mrs, Nardini. stated that there has to be a license fee to cover <br />administrative costs. <br />F'ahey commented that he fee].s there are some businesses the City does <br />not have to license, Fahey felt that the City did not have to ]icense <br />the busa.nesses that are not presently xegulated, Fahey commented that <br />the I'ire Department can find out about locations of gas tanks, etc, <br />k'age .~21~ <br />
