MtNUTES <br />City C~unei.l <br />May 12, 1982 <br />Signs The Clerk reported thaC Che Burger King sign will be loaa~ed two feet <br />(Cont.) away from Che ri.ght-p£-way, and the SCate as not requiring tha~ this <br /> sign be reloaated. <br />Mr.. Fahey suggested ~hat the Ci.tq Cler3c give the businesses on Ii~.ce <br />Street some informa7. ¢;uidance in this sa.tuation. <br />Buildxng Mrs. Nardini stated that she would like Co d'zscuss the sifiuation wzCh <br />Inspector the Building Inspector. Nard'ani inFormed the Council that £ive members <br />of the Council h~~^ed a Buil.di,ng Snspector and a Pa.re Karsha7.1. 'Lhe <br />Agenda Council agreed that these services were needed, 'Lhe City also has <br />Item Na. 23 ado[~ted the UBC and the Sta~e Fire Code. IVacdini asked a.£ the Council <br />wished to draw up a set of instruc~ions on what Mr.. Locke was riot to <br />notiqe during his inspections. <br />Mr.. Fahey xeplied that ~he Council wanCS Mr. Locke to enforce the code„ <br />but in a professional manner, Fahey staCed Chat Mr. Lacke should be <br />tactful so ~hat pepple wi.7,1 not be o£fended, <br />Mrs. Nardini sL•ated that she agrees, and also feels that that is what <br />Mr, Locke is doing. Nardini stated that the people who recently appeared <br />before the Council. did noC xant Mr, Locke to ezaforce the codes. <br />Mrs. Nardini explaizted to the Counoil that the situation wiCh the valve <br />at the Venetian Inn, there is a crnss connection between the heaCing and <br />regular water system. Narcdi.ni sCated Lhat a heating s}+stem~ watec has <br />chemicles in it. Nardini an£nrmed the Council Chat ou~break of I.egionnaires <br />T)isease was caused by the chemicles S.n a heating system~s water get~ing <br />i.nto the regular water system. This is the reason tFaat Mr. Locke ordered <br />the replacement oE the valve at the Venetian Inn. <br />Mrs. Nardini stated that she has tried to investigate the situa~i.on at <br />ChereCtc~s KiCChen, Nardin9. staCed that she has noC £ound any record <br />that a buildixig permit was ever taken out crhen the establishment was <br />changed from the Barbeque restaurant. Nardini staCed that this could <br />be Che reason that the missing fire door was not caughC, <br />P1rs. Nard'zni stated that Mr, Vitale was conaerned with the number of <br />i.tems that the Fa.re Inspector had picked uP. ~rs. Nardini sta~ed that <br />people do not seally wan~ thorough inspecCions. <br />Mr. Fahey commented that the City has Y.o en£orce the fi.xe code and <br />orda.nances as they axe w~itCen.
