Mr. Hanson also read the Planner's report <br />Sign on the signage at the Marlcet PLace. <br />Ordinance <br />Amendment <br />Mr. Norm I3rody appeared before the Council on behalf of Viking <br />Agenda partnership. Mr. Brody requested that the City's si~n or.dinance <br />Item No. 3 be amended to provide for 20% of the silouette of a building to <br />be used for signage. The present ordinance allows Lor 10%. <br />Mr. I3rody felt that gi.ven the current general business climate and <br />other economic factors, increased signage was necessary than what is <br />provided under Che current ordinance. Mr. fSrocl;~ also pointed out <br />the low elevation of the Little Canada Mall. <br />Mr. F3rody informed the Council that the signs proposed f.or. the Little <br />Canacta Mall are of a first-class nature and will add to [he project <br />rather than detract from it. <br />Mrs. Nardini. showed Mr. Iirody two pictures cohich showed free-standing <br />signs at the Little Canada Ma11. Mr. I3rody inf.ormed the Council that <br />MGM Liquor Warehouse requested these signs for their grand opening. <br />After the grand opening, these signs will Ue moved to inside the <br />MGM store. Mr. 13rody commented that he thought the grand opening <br />would be on for the next two weelcs. <br />Mrs. Nardi.ni commented that she felt the fact that these signs were <br />there should go on record and stated that they defeated the purpose <br />of what the City is tryi.ng to do. <br />Page -1- <br />
