Pahey indicated <br />that there shoul<1 be no clistance requirement from a residential <br />area, but there ,hould be one from a school.. <br />Mrs. Scalze pointed out that school age chi.ldren cannot get into <br />a bar, but they coulcl ~;et inCO an amusement cenY.er and, thereEore, <br />the £300 foot di.stance requireme~t f:or an amuseinent center was not <br />very much. <br />Mrs. Nardini poi.nted out that on a strai_ght li.ne, llrady's was less <br />than 800 f.eet from a school. The City Clerk disagreed stat:i.ng that <br />I3r.ady's was 800 feet from the school. The closest corner of. each <br />bui.l.ding was used in measuring thi.s di.stance. <br />Hr. Pahey stated that he di.d not consider an amusement center any <br />more harmful than liqnor. Pahf~y stated Chat he would I.iice to see <br />the di.stance stay the same f.or each. Mr. I'orsberf; agreed. <br />Mrs. Nardini. felt that perha~s the di.stance r.equi.rement should be <br />less restrictive. Mrs. Nardi.ni aslced how the Li.ttle Canada Mall <br />measured i.n relati.on to the school. The cler'c replied that this <br />met the 800 foot requirement. <br />Mrs. Nardini commented that the £300 foot requirement w~s O,K. wi.th <br />her if i.t was agreeaUle to the rest oL the Counci.l. <br />Mrs. Scalze stated t;iat 1<ids cannot get into a li.quor store anyway. <br />Scalze asked ~~hy some cities charge the license fee on a per game <br />basis. Scalze astced the Auildi.ng Inspector if he would :inspect <br />games in a store. The T3uildi.ng Inspector replied that he would not <br />unless he had another reason to go into the store. <br />Mr. Loclce commenCed that the reason other ci.ti.es may be goi.ng on a <br />per ~;ame basi.s is that Che bigger tlie game room the possibi.li.ty oF. <br />more probl.ems and a hi_~;her fee to offset costs, such as poli.ce <br />protecti.on. <br />Mr. Forsber; stated that he feels there mig,ht be less problems with <br />a pame room because there i.s more supervision pr.esent. <br />Mr. Pahey stated thaC he felt other ci.ti.es were gouging the game r.oom <br />owner by char~i.ng on a per machi.ne basi.s.
