ICathleen Glanzer <br />Traf:f.ic Mr. Ilanson reported that the busi.nesses in the <br />Signal AY_ and Minnesota recentl.y met wi.th the StaT.e Depa <br />Ri.ce And regar.'.ing tl.e installation of, a traffic si7nal <br />Minnesota Mi.nnesota Avenue. The State wi.ll. not piclc up the cost of the :installation <br />of the si.gnal. <br />Mr.. Mara.on Newman o£ the L:i.ttle Canada Kal.l. appe~red bef:ore the council. <br />Mr. Newman reported that there are numerous ~.cci.denT.s at this <br />:i.ntersecti.on. Mr. Newman reported that someone f.rom MN DOT commentecl <br />that the averaNe is 7 acci.dents per weelc. <br />Mr. Ne~~rman stated that the merchants in the area are suf£ering f:rom <br />the traffi.c siY.uation. The merchants do not want [o wait until ].984 <br />for. the instalJ.ation of. a tratf:i.c si~;nal. Mr. Newman sta~ed that based <br />on past experience wi.th the State it may not even be 1984 when the <br />signal i.s i.nstalled. <br />P1r. Newman reported that the idea of. the temporar.y si.gnal came u~. <br />The State wi11 Eurnish the mater.i.al.s. The cost ot these is abouC <br />$30,000 with most of thi.s be~ing salvap,eable by the State. The cosC <br />of. the i_nstallati.on is aUout $30,000 more anc' the merchants are <br />a~;reeablc to participatin~ i.n thi.s cost. <br />Page -1- <br />
