Nardini stated that if the City rescinds and then cannot <br />sprinlcler an apartment building, the City has made a bad choi.cee <br />14r. 3~ahey asked i.f the City could declare a mor.atori.um on buf.lding <br />per.mits. Mrs. Nardini. po~i.nted out that Mr. Schri.er i.s ready to <br />beqin construcC:ion tomorroto. <br />Mrs. Scalze commented that the City coul.d get sued by rescindi.ng <br />at this point. <br />Mr. Pahey asked if the City could put the requirement of sprinlcler <br />systems in the Schr:Ler PIJD Agreement. Mrs. Scalze ~ointed ouC that <br />the 31ui1din~ Inspector required a system for the senior citizen <br />housi.ng pr.oject. <br />Ms, 01son sCaCed that everyone agrees Chis is a good policy on a <br />multi-story building where there i.s the potential for Life loss, <br />Pir. Pahey stated that the City does not~oant to jeopardize its position <br />with regard to the Schrier development. <br />The City Attorney pointed out that the devel.opment agreement with Mr. <br />Schri.er does not cover sprinlcl.er systems. The Attorney stated that <br />the C:ity could try to negoti.ate this item. <br />Pahey stated that regardless oI what the City does, Mr. Schrier should <br />be aware of the requirement. Mr. Lien stated that P4r. Schrier has <br />accepted the f.act that he has to sprinkle his apartments. <br />Fahey agreed it seems lilce it will be a tremendous cost to Mr. Llermer <br />and Mr, Sch.ifsky.
