It was po:inted out that under <br />Appendi.x P it is not feasi.ble to build in Littl.e Canada< 'I'hi.s <br />gentleman stated that he could understand the requirement for a <br />two or three story bui.l.ding, but not a pole builcti.ng. The gentleinan <br />al.so stated that 99% of. homes are over ?_,000 ,quare feet and they <br />ar.e not required to be spri.nklered, <br />Mrs. Nardini commented thaC the reason she voted £or Appendix E was <br />because she Li.stened to the recommendati.ons of. the Pi.re Department. <br />Nardini also pointed out that no one came to the public hearing on <br />thi.s matter. Nardi_ni pointed out that a new fire truck just cost <br />the Ci.ty `~135,000, and if the Ci.ty has to bui.ld a new fire stati.on <br />ever greater costs will be i.ncurre<t. These costs wi11. Ue paid by <br />raisi.ng taxes an<1 then everyone in the Ci.ty has to pay. <br />Mr, Porsber.g sCated that he was under the impressi.on that other <br />cities have adopted Appendi.x E. <br />Mr, Gr.aczylc pointect out that Appendix li i.s new and other cities <br />will be adoptin~ it, The Cl.erk poi.nted out that Appendix T; <br />just came out i.n March. Ms. Olson stated that the Legislature <br />passed Appendix L' in Apri.l but Appendix li has not passed the Senate. <br />Mrs. Nardini pointed out that the Fise Chief came to the City and <br />recommended its adopti.on. <br />Mre Stanke urged t:he Council to grant people a variance up to <br />6,000 square feet< <br />Mr. }~orsberg commented thaC Appendi.x E will make it impossibLe for <br />smal.l. businessmen to go into business i.n Little Canada, <br />Mr.< Rossi stated that there is plenty o£ room in the Ci.ty Garage <br />£or an additional fi.re station. Rossi. pointed out that he cannot <br />add on to his business with Appendix E zn effect< <br />Mr, Stanke pointed out that there are three buildings that do not <br />have water avaitable. <br />Mr. Porsberg replied to Mr< Rossi that the Counci.l. has di.scussed <br />putting a f.i.re cruck down at the City Garage. <br />Mr. Peterson stated that a fireman could not get on Che roof of the <br />pol.e buildi.np.,s as they are too steep. <br />Mr, Graca.ytc agreed that 2,000 square Eeet is a small area, but if. <br />the Ci.ty dicl not adopt Appendix F as i.s, the City could not have it, <br />Mr. Graczyk pointect out Chat the, City wanted to ensure that its <br />future apartment buildings were sprinklered. <br />Page -17- <br />
