MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Oct. 26, 19£33 <br />Wrip,ht Mr. Pahey £eLt that the f.act that Mr. Wri.ght paid the Planner's fee <br />Variance was not a factor and that Mr. Wright should have been present at <br />(Cont.) the meetin ~. <br /> Mr. Wright stated that if he had thought it was i.mportant, he would <br /> have been there. However, Wr ight was inLormed Chat he need not attend, <br />Mr, Chl.ebeclc stated that the Council has discussed Lalce Street many <br />times and the City must treat Lalce Street as a street. <br />Mrs. Davison questi.oned why Mr, Glright was requesting a vari.ance at <br />thi.s point and felt that this should have been handled with the buildin~ <br />permit. Nardini poi.nted out that the garage could be placed in another <br />locati.on. <br />Mrs. Scalze stated that Mr., Sdright must show the Council ttiat a hardship <br />exists. <br />Mr. Wright stated that he caas not aware that a~roposed street existed <br />cohen he purchased the property. <br />Cathy Janson asked if the City had any future plans for the development <br />oL this portion of Lalce Street. <br />Mr. ilanson repli.ed that the matter has been discussed several ti.mes. <br />The opinion is that the City does not o~ant to vacate the street. <br />The neighbor.s on Park Street are not interested in Lalce Street goin~ <br />through. There appears to be no interest in the Street. <br />Mr.. I'ahey asked che status of. the lots to the north. Pahey asked if <br />there was potential £or lots to be developed between Stark and Ruth <br />on Lake Street. 'The Clerk repLied that all these lots are combined <br />and thought they were under one ocanership. <br />Mr. LichC stated that the City has tried to r.eorient the properCy <br />towards the improved screets. <br />Mr. LeMay stated that he did not think there was enoagh room for a <br />lot faci.ng on Lake Street. <br />Mr. Pahey stated that the Ci[y should not vacate che street until. <br />it is clea~ whether the Ci.ty wants to maintain it for open space. <br />Pahey stated that if it is open space, the City should not deprive <br />the property owner from building closer. <br />Scalze reported that the Parics Commission has recommended that this <br />be l.oolced at on a case by case basis. Scalze stated that she felt <br />that as the Ci.ty had no park land, the property should not be vacated <br />so that peopLe can build on it. Scalze stated that there is the <br />possibility of development on the property to the north. <br />Page -£3- <br />
