MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Sept. 4, 1985 <br />1986 Budget The City Clerk reported that the General Fund portion of the budget <br />covers estimated revenue for 1g86. <br />Council The City Clerk reported that in the Council portion of the budget, <br />the City Attorney is requesting a 10% increase. <br />The Clerk also reported that the City's insurance costs went up 100%. <br />The C1erk reported that he has heard that the City has been lucky in <br />this regard as some cities' insurance costs increased 400%. <br />The Clerk presented the Municipal Court portion of the budget. <br />Mr.Fahey suggested that the Attorney's retainer be set at $1,075 per <br />month and the court retainer be set at $1850 per month. Fahey <br />suggested that the hourly rate of $60.00 be left as is. <br />The Clerk reported that the Elections portion of the budget is pretty <br />well set by the County election system. <br />Under the Clerk portion of the budget, the Clerk pointed out that the <br />$6,000 budgeted for Accountants is to cover the General Fund Audit. <br />Under the Planning portion of the budget,the City C1erk suggested <br />that it remain as is until he comes up with some type of adjustment. <br />Mr. Fahey suggested that the Council set the Building Inspector's <br />salary at $2_9,000 per year. Mr.Blesener reported that a 6.8% <br />increase would be $28,836. <br />Mr. Collova suggested that the Planner's attendance be cut at the <br />Planning Commission and Council meetings~ However, Collova stated <br />that he liked having the Planner at meetings. Collova felt that the <br />City should use the Suilding Inspector more and somehow phase out the <br />Planner. <br />Mr. Blesener felt that the Planner should be instructed to work with <br />the Building Inspector. Blesener also pointed out that the Council <br />utilized the Building Inspector's I-P materials and his fi11 ordinance. <br />The Clerk stated that the Building Inspector is familiar with the City <br />Codes and can instruct people what needs to be done to meet the Code. <br />The Clerk pointed out that the Building Inspector is at the City Center <br />more regularly than the Planner and can communicate with people. <br />Page -11- <br />
