MINUTES
City Council
Sept. 4, 1985
1986 Budget Scalze reported that the $34,000 budgeted for Other Improvements
in 1985 was mostly carry-over from other years. This money will
probably be used this year.
Streets Mr. Glanzer presented the Street portion of the budget. Glanzer
pointed out that he has budgeted $100,000 for street repairs.
Glanzer stated that he is proposing to do a lot of sealcoating
and overlaying. Glanzer commented that there are streets in the
City that should be repaired now or in the longrun will cost the
City more money.
Mr. Blesener pointed out that the City does not have a policy nor
money for street repair.
Mr. Fahey felt that any street improvement should be assessed to
the property owners.
Glanzer stated that he is talking about the maintenance of streets.
Glanzer pointed out that Morrison, Carla Lane, the north end of Payne
Avenue and LaBore Road from Centerville Road to DeSoto are badly in
need of repairs.
Fahey stated that he felt that the property owners on those streets
should pay for repairs.
Mrs. Nardini asked if some of the new roads in the Payne Avenue area
will have the same problems Payne Avenue is now experiencing. Glanzer
did not know, but pointed out the high water table in the area.
Glanzer felt that the City could take care of the current problem
streets over the next 4 or 5 years. Glanzer also felt that the
Council would have to look at each situation and make a decision
on whether or not the improvements should be assessed.
Ms. Nardini questioned catagory 9213 and the substantial increase
from $18,500 to $27,000. Glanzer reported that this is budgeted
for snowplowing services provided by the County.
Mr. Blesener pointed out the additional streets in the City. Blesener
commented that with the addition of new streets, the City also requires
more services.
Storm Glanzer presented the storm sewer portion of the budget. Glanzer
Sewer reported that the utilities portion of the bud~et is for the Sleepy
Ho11ow lift station.
Page -7-
