MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Sept. 25, 1985 <br />Market Place Mr. Jim DeMoto of the Pirst Banic stated that he oras opposed to the <br />(Cont.) parkin~ spaces on MiddLe Street. <br />Mr. Collova introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 85-9-454 - CLOSING THG PUBLIC <br />F[EARING ON THE P9ARKHT PLACE EXPANSION PROPOSAL <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Ms, Nardini. <br />Ayes (5) Collova, Nardini, Fahey, IIlesener, Scalze. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears i.n Resolution Book No. 12, Page 468. <br />Pahey suggested that the Council table action on the proposal so that <br />the developers can ~o back to the drawing board. <br />Collova pointed out that with 35 feet less of building, the parkin~ <br />requirement would also be reduced. <br />Scalze asked if the City should obtain any road easements for the <br />future, such as ~~aaie Street. The ~ngineer did not feel that the <br />City should take over Middle Street, <br />The Planner ~ointed out that setbaclcs do not apply on a private easement. <br />Kodet felt that the proposal coould still meet the parking requirements <br />even if the spaces on Middle Street were eliminated. Scalze asked about <br />the parkin~ spaces proposed for the east side of the property in the back. <br />Kodet stated that they would like to maintain those spaces and eli.minate <br />the ones on Mi.ddle Street. <br />Mr. .Toseph Vitale stated that his concern is that Market Place Drive will <br />become a dead street with only truck traffic and traffic to the senior <br />buiLding. Vitale pointed out that the senior building does not have <br />adequate parking and overflow parking was allowed to use the Marlcet Place <br />parlcing lot~ <br />Mr. Kodet report-ed that there is a plan for additional parking at the <br />Gar.den Terr.ace Apartments if it is needed. <br />Kodet aslced for approval of the plan suUject to elimination of the <br />spaces on Middle Street, <br />Mre Blesener pointed out that the drainage of the area should be looked <br />at. Scalze pointed out that setbactcs have to be looked at. <br />Mr. Blesener suggested a 20 foot setbaclc rather than a 40. This wi11 <br />provide some green area at the center. Mr. Kodet stated that he coas <br />agreeable to a 20 foot setback, but stated that 40 feet would pose a real <br />probleme <br />Page -9- <br />
