MINUTES
City Council
Oct. 23, 1985
Krienke Dr. Krienke questioned that the Council could condemn property if it
Property was not used for a public use. The City Attorney stated that the
(Cont.) City would need a public purpose for condemnation and it would be up
to a determination of the court.
Mrs. Krienke questioned how the City could condemn their property
when the Steneroden property already had access to Rice Street.
Fahey stated that the access is questionnable given the width of the
property along Rice Street. If that property had to be used for a
roadway, the remaining property would probably not be feasible to
develop. Fahey pointed out that the Council has not made any decisions
at this point.
Dr. Krienke indicated that he is willing to work with Mr. Waite, but
felt that Mr. Waite should contact him.
Fahey suggested that a PUD be looked at for the development of the
whole area.
Mrs. Krienke asked who would pay for the roadway. Fahey replied that
the properties along County Road C may be assessed if there is access
achieved to the back of their lots. Fahey suggested that those interested
attend the November 13 Council meeting.
Scalze stated that the Council is looking for input from the property
owners along County Road C. Fahey stated that the City will give the
property owners an opportunity to fu11y address the issue.
Morrison The City Engineer reported that he has been working on the issue
Avenue of Morrison Avenue drainage, however, his report is not 100% complete.
Drainage The Engineer stated that he will address the pipe that was put in,
the siphon and the easements which the City does not have.
~genda
Item No. 12 The Engineer suggested that one alternative would be to abandon the
pipe that the City recently put in and run a storm sewer pipe from
Demont to Morrison. The cost of this would be approximately $47,000.
The second alternative would be to bring water from Demont and along
the east Side of Morrison and use the existing pipe through a catch
basin and then install a smaller pipe to continue on. The cost of
this would be approximately $41,000.
The third alternative would be to bring the water from Demont and
Morrison and run it into the pipe. There would be another pipe at
the intersection of Sextant and M.orrison and three catch basins.
The cost of this would be approximately $26,000 and this was the
original intent of the City in the installation of the pipe on the
Kath property.
Page -15-
