MINUTES
City Council
May 13, 1986
Vern Johnson, 304 County Road B-2 stated that he did not feel that
there were a lot of water problems in the City and felt that the $2.4
million could be used for a better purpose. Johnson felt that there
may be some isolated drainage problems of a casual nature. Johnson
stated that the projects were not convincing to him, and he did not
feel the City should spend this amount of money on drainage.
There was no one else from the audience wishing to speak.
Ms. Nardini introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 86-5-168 - CLOSING THE PUBLIC
HEARING ON DRAINAGE DISTRICT PROJECTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (5) Nardini, Blesener, Collova, Scalze, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 13, Page 160.
At this point in the meeting, Council took a five minute recess.
Mr. Blesener indicated that he was not sure that the City should
spend $2.4 million. Blesener stated that he would like to take
a couple of weeks to consider the various projects and determine
if any of them should be eliminated. Blesener suggested that the
matter be tabled until the P1ay 28 Council meeting.
P4rs. Scalze agreed and felt that the Council should take the time
to solicit additional public comments on the projects.
Mr. Fahey suggested that a notice be put in the paper that the
matter will be acted on at the May 28 meeting and that the Council
would listen to additional public comments on the proposal. Fahey
pointed out that there may be areas that the City overlooked that
should be included.
Ms. Nardini stated that she did not object to the postponement, but
felt that another public hearing should not be held.
The City Clerk indicated that the Council could not go over the $7.4
million amount, but could substitute one project for another.
Fahey pointed out that this is a long-range plan and it may be better
to keep projects in that are questionable at this point then to delete
them now and try to add them back in later.
Page -9-
