MINUTES
City Council
August 13, 19~6
Minutes Mrs. Scalze indicated that the minutes of the July 9, 1986 Council
(Cont.) meeting should be corrected to reflect that the little Canada
Recreation Association wi11 be donating ~500 towards the development
of Gervais P4i11 Park as well as 100 hours of tabor, rather than
the $100 of labor stated in the minutes.
Mrs. Scalze introduced ~ne folloeving resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION M0. II6-8-350 - CORRECTING THE
MINUTES OF TaIE JULY 9, 19Q6 COUNCIL MEGTTNG
The foreqoing resolution was duly seconded by Ms. Nardini.
Ayes (5)~Scalze, Nardini, Fahe,y, Blesener, Collova.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution ~ook No. 15, Page 407.
Sylvan Str. Mayor Fahey opened the public hearing on the improvement of Sylvan
Imp. No. Street from County Road C to Demont by grading, sanitary sewer,
86-15 watermain, storm se~aer, bituminous surface and concrete curb and
gutter. Fahey pointed out that the improvement has been petitioned
Agenda for b,y at least 35% of the property ovmers involved.
Item No. 4
The City Engineer presented the feasibility report for the
improvement. Total estimated cost of the improvement is $337,300.00.
Assessable frontage is 1,$50 feet. Cost per front foot is estirnated
at $lII3.OQ.
The Engineer presented a diagram of the proposed improvement and
pointed out that he is propcs~ing that the street end in a cul-de-sac
on the south encl. Nowever, watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer
would run through to Demont.
7he Fngineer pointed out that there is a similar ciat-de-sac situation
on ad,jacent Spruce Street.
Council discussed the fact that the cul-de-sac would be over 1,000
feet long and Cit.y ordinances atlow cul-de-sacs up to 500 feet long.
The Planner pointed out that the reason for limiting the length of
cul-de-sacs are response time for emergency vehicles and water
pre~ssure at t'rie end of cul-de-sacs which would not be a factor in
this case as the utilities would run through.
f~irs. Scalze pointed out that school buses have problems turning
around on cul-cie-sacs.
Fahey commented that Public ldorks will not be in favor of an
additional cul-de-sac.
Page -2-
