MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Jan. 14, 7987 <br />U.S. Swim Mr. Fahey reported that U. S. Swim & Fitness is requesting City <br />& Fitness support for two Triathlons which they would like to hold on <br />Triathlons June 28, 1987 and August 23, 1987. The Triathlons will involve <br />bicycle races through the City. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 9 Mr. LaValle reported that the bicycle races will take betvaeen <br />3 1/2 to 4 hours, however, the City roads involved will remain <br />passable. LaValle reported that he spoke to the Sheriff's <br />Department, and U. S. Swim & Fitness has not submitted an insurance <br />binder for the Triathlons. <br />Mr. Blesener pointed out that the dates of the Triathlons do not <br />coincide with any City functions. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-1-19 - SUPPORTING THE <br />TRIATHLONS PROPOSED BY U. S. SWIM & FITNESS THROUGH <br />TNE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA ON JUNE 28, 1987 AND <br />AUGUST 23, 1987 SUBJECT TO THE PRESENTATION OF <br />THE APPROPRIATE INSURANCE COVERAGE TO THE <br />COUNTY NAMING THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AS AN <br />ADDITIONAL INSURED, AND REQUESTING THE COOPERATION <br />OF THE RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT IN <br />PROVIDING NECESSARY POLICE SUPERVISION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Collova. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 19. <br />Sick Leave Mayor Fahey pointed out that the City Attorney has submitted a <br />Ordinance draft ordinance incorporating changes in sick leave policy that <br />the Council recently approved. Fahey also submitted to the <br />Agenda Council a proposed further revision of the C~ty's sick leave <br />Item No. 14 policy. <br />Fahey pointed out that his revision includedchanges in the <br />rate of sick leave accrual for part-time employees as well as <br />clarification that sick leave may be granted only for absence <br />from duty due to an illness or injury of the employee which <br />disables him/her from working. Therefore, sick leave is not <br />to be used for routine medical or dental appointments, or <br />illness of immediate family members. <br />Fahey also pointed out that under paragraph E, Section 209.120 <br />he has listed eligibility requirements which must be met for <br />sick leave with pay for a scheduled work day. <br />Page -7- <br />
