RESOLUTIONS City Council Feb. 11, 1987 Tax The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener. Abatements Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, LaValle, Fahey, Collova. & Nays (0). Assessment Resolution declared adopted. Deletions This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 65. (Cont.) Scalze requested that the contract between the City and Mr. Johnson be reviewed to determine the agreement made on the sanitary sewer assessments on Parcel No. 05-29-22-31-0048. The City Attorney reported that he will check this out. Spooner Mrs. Scalze reported that she and the Mayor met with representatives Park Land of the School District regarding acquisition of Spooner Park. Acquisition Scalze reported that the City should begin application work Agenda for grant money to assist in the purchase of Spooner Park. Scalze Item No. 18 reported that as part of the grant application, the City will need to have an appraisal made of the property and the property will need to be surveyed. Council discussed the boundaries of the park and what portion of property the City is interested in purchasing. There was question on whether the School District will be interested in selling the ballfields behind the School. It was pointed out that the School District is planning an addition to the school and has approached the City with regard to participating in the cost of the addition in order to add a multi-purpose gym to the school. Collova questioned why the City would want to buy Spooner Park. Fahey pointed out that the City's lease on Spooner Park expires in 1995. Scalze reported that the deadline for filing a Lawcon Grant application is the end of April or early May, therefore, it is necessary to proceed quickly to get the survey work and appraisal completed. Fahey reported that he has indicated to the Park Commission that a workshop meeting would be held with the Council, Park Commission, Recreation Department, Recreation Association and School District on February 24 to determine the exact property that may be ~nvolved in a purchase. Scalze reported that she could meet with the City Engineer on February 25 to outline the boundaries so that he could proceed with the survey. Scalze suggested that the City authorize the appraisal at this point, so that the appraiser could begin work on land values prior to receipt Page -20-
