RESOLUTIONS <br />City Council <br />Feb. 11, 1987 <br />Tax The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener. <br />Abatements Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, LaValle, Fahey, Collova. <br />& Nays (0). <br />Assessment Resolution declared adopted. <br />Deletions This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 65. <br />(Cont.) <br />Scalze requested that the contract between the City and Mr. Johnson <br />be reviewed to determine the agreement made on the sanitary sewer <br />assessments on Parcel No. 05-29-22-31-0048. <br />The City Attorney reported that he will check this out. <br />Spooner Mrs. Scalze reported that she and the Mayor met with representatives <br />Park Land of the School District regarding acquisition of Spooner Park. <br />Acquisition <br />Scalze reported that the City should begin application work <br />Agenda for grant money to assist in the purchase of Spooner Park. Scalze <br />Item No. 18 reported that as part of the grant application, the City will need <br />to have an appraisal made of the property and the property will <br />need to be surveyed. <br />Council discussed the boundaries of the park and what portion of <br />property the City is interested in purchasing. There was question <br />on whether the School District will be interested in selling the <br />ballfields behind the School. It was pointed out that the School <br />District is planning an addition to the school and has approached <br />the City with regard to participating in the cost of the addition <br />in order to add a multi-purpose gym to the school. <br />Collova questioned why the City would want to buy Spooner Park. <br />Fahey pointed out that the City's lease on Spooner Park expires <br />in 1995. <br />Scalze reported that the deadline for filing a Lawcon Grant application <br />is the end of April or early May, therefore, it is necessary to proceed <br />quickly to get the survey work and appraisal completed. <br />Fahey reported that he has indicated to the Park Commission that a <br />workshop meeting would be held with the Council, Park Commission, <br />Recreation Department, Recreation Association and School District <br />on February 24 to determine the exact property that may be ~nvolved <br />in a purchase. <br />Scalze reported that she could meet with the City Engineer on February <br />25 to outline the boundaries so that he could proceed with the survey. <br />Scalze suggested that the City authorize the appraisal at this point, <br />so that the appraiser could begin work on land values prior to receipt <br />Page -20- <br />
