MINUTES
City Council
April 8, 1987
Drainage On Mr. Frank Graczyk questioned why a storm sewer pipe was not being
Sylvan Str. installed on vacated Lake Street and an open ditch was proposed
to route runoff from Spruce Street to Sylvan. Graczyk also asked
Agend~~ why the storm sewer on Spruce Street could not be run to County
Item No. 7 Road C.
The Engineer replied that the storm sewer could not be run to
County Road C due to the slight hill in the area. The Engineer
also pointed out the existing houses and driveways in existance
on Spruce Street which would be effected by the storm sewer being
extended.
Graczyk was also concerned about the trees that would be lost in
the vacated Lake Street area.
The Engineer agreed that some of the trees will be lost, but stated
that this would be kept to a minimum.
The Engineer also agreed with Mr. Graczyk's suggestion that the
storm sewer over vacated Lake Street should be piped rather than
having an open ditch. The Engineer pointed out that the City has
retained a 20 foot drainage easement in this area.
Fahey asked if this storm sewer would be assessed against the
property owners in the area.
The City Clerk pointed out that the City does not assess storm
sewer improvements. The Engineer pointed out that this area was
one of the storm sewer projects that the Council previously
looked at.
The Engineer reported that he would present the Council with the cost
of the project at the next meeting.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-4-135 - ORDERING STORM SEWER
FOR THE 20-FOOT DRAINAGE EASEMENT OVER VACATED
LAKE STREET BETWEEN SPRUCF STREET AND SYLVAN
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, LaValle, Collova, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 148.
Page -7-
