MIPIUTES <br />City Council <br />May 27, 1987 <br />Bingo <br />(Cont.) <br />Benson asked if the Council must deny the license applications for <br />Servants of Mary and St. Joseph's that it do so on the basis that <br />no lease is in existence. <br />Fahey felt that these two charities were a part of LCC6 and should <br />be treated in the same manner as the other charities. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. $7-5-237 - DENYING RENEk~AL OF THE <br />CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSE FOR SERVANTS OF P9ARY, <br />ST. JOSEPH'S SOCIETY, HUMANE SOCIETY, NORTH <br />SUBURBAPI DAC, LIQNS CLUB AND MINNESOTA REGISTRY <br />OF INTERPRETERS OF THE DEAF AT TNIS TI~~IE ON THE <br />BASIS THAT THERE IS STILL NO SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION <br />AS TO THE LEGAL STATUS OF LCCB, INC. AND/OR ITS <br />TRUSTEE, AND IT IS THE COUNCIL'S FEELING THAT THE <br />CITY IS BETTER SERVED AND HAS BETTER ABILITY TO <br />ASSIST THE STATE I~1 POLICING THE BINGO OPERATION <br />WITH INDIVIDUAL LICENSES BETWEEN THE CHARITIES AND <br />THE LA~IDLORD AND HAS BETTER ABILITY TO DEAL bIITH <br />THE CHARITIES ON AN IPIDIVIDUAL BASIS, AP.1D THE <br />OPERATION EASIER TO GOVERN BY ALLOWING THE CITY <br />TO GRANT LICENSE APPROVALS FOR CHARITIES THAT MEET <br />CITY POLICY GUIDELIPlES PREVIOUSLY ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE CITY COUNCIL, AND WITH THE FURTHER INDICATION <br />THAT THE LICENSES FOR THE CHARITIES ~AOULD BE <br />RECONSIDERED IF SUBMITTED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS <br />WITH INDIVIDUAL LEASES NEGOTIATED DIRECTLY bIITN <br />TNE BUILDING OWNER <br />Recess <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by P~rs. Scalze. <br />Ayes (4) Fahey, Scalze, LaValle, Blesener. <br />~Jays (1) Collova. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Pages 255 and 256. <br />At this point in the meeting Council took a short recess, 11:12 P.P1. <br />The meeting was reconvened at 11:15 P.M. <br />Purchase Mr. Jeffrey Nobel, Product Manager for International Office System, <br />Of Copier appeared before the Council reporting that his firm submitted a <br />bid for the City's purchase of a copier. Nobel stated that due <br />Agenda to an error made by the City Clerk in calculating the bids received, <br />Addition the Clerk indicated that the low bid was received from Sharp and, <br />thus, the City Council passed a resolution awarding the bid to Sharp. <br />Nobel stated that the bid submitted by his firm was, in fact, the <br />low bid and requested that the Council amend their actions for the <br />purchase of the Sharp copier and award the bid to his firm. <br />Page -28- <br />
