P1I NUTES
City C~uncil
June 10, 1987
Curbing
Concerns
(Cont.)
hearings at which these improvementswere discussed.
Fahey replied that the hearings were held last summer and an
assessment hearing will be held in August. Notices were sent to
property owners of the public hearings held last year, however,
notices go to the owner of record.
P1r. Steele requested that the Council look at the area and drive
over the curb. Steele felt that the situation was a bad one.
P9r. Steele also expressed concern that he has tried to obtain
information from the City Clerk regard.ing senior citizen deferments
and has been unable to get a response.
Fahey reported that the deferrment is based on a combination of the
amount of the assessment which includes interest and the HUD low
income guidelines.
The City Clerk reported that the City will not know the interest
rate for the assessment until it is set by the State in August.
Fahey requested that the City Clerk give R1r. Steele whatever information
he has available at this time on senior citizen deferments.
0'Banion requested that the matter of the curbing be put on the
agenda of the next Council meeting. 0'Qanion stated that he did not
want to pay for curbing that was an experiment resulting in his
driveway needing to be redone, or because the contractor made an
error.
Fahey suggested that the engineer study the curbing heights and
report back to the Council.
Mr. Buche reported that the rise in the curb on Payne Avenue is two
inches lower than the curb installed in front of his home.
Pnr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-6-249 - AUTHORIZING THE
CITY ENGINEER TO I~lSPECT THE DRIVEPIAYS IN
THE DEMONT, P10RRIS0~1, SAVAGE LANE CONSTRUCTION
AREA TO EPISURE THAT CURBING MEETS CITY SPECI-
FICATIONS AND TO THE EXTEPlT THAT TFIE SPECIFICATIONS
IdERE PlOT CHANGED BY THE CONTRACTOR, AND IF SPECS
HFlVE BEEN MET AND CURBING PRESENTS A PROBLEM FOR
INGRESS AND EGRESS OF PROPERTY OWNERS, THAT THE
CITY TAKE STEPS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (4) Fahey, Blesener, Scalze, LaValle.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 268.
Page -12-
