P~INUTES <br />City Council <br />June 10, 1987 <br />Park <br />Property <br />& Capital <br />View (Cont.1 <br />Scalze pointed out that the School Board is asking the Council how <br />it feels on the issue. Scalze also felt that this issue could be <br />discussed at the economic development workshop scheduled for June 23. <br />It was the feeling of the Council that Bev Scalze should send a letter <br />to the School Board on behalf of the Council stating its feelings. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION M0. 87-6-253 - AUTHORIZING BEVERLY <br />SCALZE TO SEND A LETTER ON BEHALF OF THE COUNCIL <br />TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT INDICATING THAT THE CITY <br />IS WILLING TO WORK WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO <br />DETERMINE IF IT IS FEASIBLE TO DEVELOP A COMMUNITY <br />EDUCATION SATELLITE CENTER IN THE CAPITAL VIEW <br />COMPLEX AND TO ASSIST IN LOCATI~16 PROSPECTIVE USERS <br />OR POTENTIAL TENANTS THAT l+lOULD FIT WITHIN TNE <br />ZOPIING OF THF CAPITAL VIEW PROPERTY <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. LaValle. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Qook No. 17, Page 279. <br />Comparable Fahey requested that the City Attorney research the issue of <br />blorth comparable worth as it is his understanding that the City may be <br />exempt as it has less than 10 full-time employees. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 15a The Attorney will report back to the Council on this issue. <br />General Blesener asked the Council's feeling for continuing general business <br />Business licenses in the City. The license fee for these licenses is $10. <br />Licenses It was pointed out that Little Canada and Vadnais Heights are the <br />only cities in the area that are doing this licensing. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 15b The City Clerk reported that White Bear Lake is considering such a <br />license and the City of St. Paul licenses certain businesses. <br />Fahey pointed out that the purpose of the license is to know what <br />types of businesses are in buildings in the City. Fahey asked if <br />there hav? been any complaints about the licensing. <br />The City Clerk reported that the only businesses complaining are <br />those that are licensed by another agency. <br />As the Council appeared to be split on this issue, no action was taken. <br />Page -20- <br />
