P1INUTES
City Council
June 2~4, 1987
Imp. No
87-8
(Cont.)
Nana Costa asked if some screening could be done from the Slumberland
development to her property.
Fahey pointed out that the Costa property is industrial and code does
not require screening bet~aeen two industrial properties. However,
the City would make this request of Larry Lee, the developer of the
Slumberland site. Fahey suggested that Costa submit a formal request
for screening to the Council.
D9r. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-6-275 - ORDERING IMP. N0.
87-8, THE IMPROVEPIENT OF SECTION 5 INDUSTRIAL
AREFl AND CE~ITERVILLE ROAD BY WATERP4AIN, SANITARY
SEl-0ER, STORM SEWER AND PONDING WITH THE STIPULATION
TNAT THE CITY ENGINEER REVIEId THE DRAINAGE OF THE
E~lTIRE AREA AND MAKE SURE THERE IS ADEQUATE
PONDING PROVIDED AS WELL AS REVIEW AND MAKE A
RECOMD1E~IDATION 0~1 THE ASSESSMENT FOR TNE PROPERTY
LOCATED UNDER THE NSP POWER LINES
~lays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Pages 298 and 299.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze.
Ayes (5) alesener, Scalze, Fahey, LaValle, Collova.
Soil The City Engineer reviewed the soil borings report that the City
Borings received from tests it ordered in the Centerville Road area. The
Centerville Engineer reported that three borings were done on the Bibeau
Road Area property and the Dave Frattalone property. Two borings were done
on either side of the Al1en Avenue area. The City also has a copy
;~genda of the borings report done in 1979 on the Schweitzer property
I~.em No. 15 as well as a copy of the report done on the property near DeSoto
and Allen when the City was considering this area for location of
a water toi~er.
The Engineer reported that the results of these borings is that there
is clay in the area and this material has low load carrying capacity.
The Engineer reported that the capacity appears to be 2,000 pounds.
Frank Frattalone reported that with soils capable of supporting a
2,000 pound load, load capacity can be increased with spread footings,
Frattalone felt that the capacity of the soils could be increased to
3,000 pounds with such footings.
Frattalone estimated the load of the Slumberland building at between
3,000 and 4,000 pounds and pointed out that this building is 20 feet
high. Frattalone felt that a one-story industrial building could be
constructed on a 2,000 pound load footing.
Page -7-
