r~INUTEs <br />City Council <br />July 8, 1987 <br />Bingo The City Clerk reported that there was no lease agreement submitted <br />(Cont.) with the DAC's gambling license application. The C1erk also noted <br />that gambling license applications received from the DAC are dated <br />June 10, 1987 and June 24, 1987, and the City has 30 days in which <br />to comment on these applications before the State takes action. <br />Scalze reported that the City has also received a Class A gambling <br />license application from the Little Canada Fire Department. <br />Richard Boss, Jr., Assistant Fire Chief, reported that the Fire <br />Department has a lease which has been signed by Movers Warehouse <br />and which the Fire Department will sign upon approval of their <br />license application by the City. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-7-308 - DENYING THE <br />NORTH SUBURBAN DEVELOPMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT <br />CENTER'S REQUEST FOR CLASS A GAPI6LING <br />LICENSE BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE APPLICATION <br />IJAS NOT SUBMITTED I~IITH A SIGNED ~EASE <br />AGREEMEPlT FROM MOVER'S b1AREH0USE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, Scalze, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 333. <br />Scalze pointed out that the Council has discussed with the Lake <br />Owasso Residence Volunteer Council at a previous Council meeting <br />the possibility of their making donations to the DAC. <br />Scalze pointed out that there is no question that the Little Canada <br />Fire Department meets the City's policy guidelines for gambling <br />in that it provides benefit to the citizens of Little Canada. <br />Scalze asked Mr. Boss what the monies the Fire Department gets from <br />bingo will be used for. <br />Mr. Boss replied that the money will be used for the benefit of <br />Little Canada, and one of their ideas is to donate to the Firemen's <br />Relief Association. Ploney may also be used for the purchase of new <br />equipment, however, nothing has been confirmed at this point. <br />LaValle pointed out that the City has required the other charities <br />operating at the bingo hall to donate 10% of profits to the City's <br />park land acquisition fund. <br />Boss replied that the Fire Department is aware of this and will make <br />a similar donation if approved. <br />Page -9- <br />
