MINUTES
City Council
July 8, 1987
Bingo LaValle asked if donations to the Relief Association would decrease
(Cont.) the City's obligation to this fund,
Boss replied that it would not, the City's obligation would continue.
LaValle stated that his interpretation of State Law was that if these
funds are used for Relief Association they can only be used to decrease
a municipality's obligation to such an Association. LaValle suggested
that the Fire Department obtain an opinion on this.
Scalze stated that she would like to see some of the money set aside
in a truck fund so that in the future if a new truck is needed, the
City will not have to levy for a truck as it has in the past.
Boss pointed out that these decisions have not been made and pointed
out that there are Councilmembers on the Board of the Relief Association
who would have input into this area.
Scalze pointed out that the application submitted by the Fire Departnent
would replace the third night that was approved for St. Joseph's Society,
who agreed to relinquish this evening to a City organization if one
made application and was approved within 45 days of St. Joseph's
third license approval.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-7-309 - APPROVINf THE
APPLICATION FOR CLASS A GAMBLING LICENSE
SU~MITTED BY THE LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT TO TIiE STIPULATIONS PLACED ON PREVIOUS
LICENSES SUCfi AS 10% OF THE PROFIT REALIZED BY THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT MUST BE DONATED TO THE CITY'S
PARK LAND ACQUISITION FUND, AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
MUST SIGN THE ROTATION SCHEDULE AGREEMENT WHICH
WAS REACHED AND AGREED TO BY THE OTHER CHARITIES
OPERATING BINGO AT 2900 RICE STREET
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Collova, Scalze, Blesener.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 334.
The City Clerk suggested that the City's 30-day comment period on
the Fire Department gambling license application be waived.
P1r. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-7-310 - WAIVING THE CITY'S
30-DAY COP~MENT PERIOD WITN REGARD TO THE
LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT'S APPLICATION
FOR CLASS A GAMBLING LICEMSE
Paae -1(1-
