P9IDIUTES
City Council
July 22, 1987
Council discussed medium priority item #2 regarding environmental
concerns, specifically with regard to fly ash. Council felt that
the PCA should be invited to a Council meeting to report on the
use of fly ash for fill purposes. Council pointed out that there
are a couple of undeveloped properties in the City that have fly
ash as fill, and suggested it may be necessary to have this material
removed before development of these properties is permitted. However,
Council felt that before any action was taken on this matter, it
should receive a report from the PCA.
Collova suggested that perhaps the priority dealing with accessibility
and the freeway system should be eliminated as accesses are already
established.
Nielson pointed out that there may be future access issues that need
to be addressed as development occurs in the City.
Fasciana pointed out that there is the potential for another access
from Edgerton Street.
Blesener suggested that the two priorities dealing with existing
commercial and retail facilities be combined. Council agreed.
Nielson pointed out that the criteria for environmental hazards
changes, and what may not be considered a hazard today, may be a
hazard in the future.
Scalze suggested that she would like to see the remaining undeveloped
industrial property in the City rezoned to I-P to prevent the
development of inetal buildings on this property.
Blesener suggested that this could be accomplished through an upgrade
in the ordinance, pointing out that there are differences in lot
sizes.
The development priorities developed by concensus of the Council and
Fconomic Development Committee are as follows:
Top Priority: 1. To encourage the upgrading of existing
development and to seek additional high
quality deve1opment for the Section V
Industrial Development Area of the
community.
2. Acquisition of additional park and
recreation property for the City of Little
Canada.
Page -2-
