The State has
Agenda submitted two plans for the berm, one with a higher berm which would
Item No. 9 require curb and gutter along the freeway, and the other with a lower
berm and no curb and gutter required. The State has also indicated
that it will not allow the hauling of dirt and dumping from the
freeway side.
The Engineer pointed out that the lower berm would not be much higher
than the existing pavement of the freeway, but would be a place where
trees and landscaping materials could be planted. The berm will not
prevent noise from coming from the freeway into the Twin Lake Trail
area.
LaValle pointed out that the residents on Twin Lake Trail are interested
in the berm for safety reasons as well as noise abatement, and suggested
that the Engineer discuss the State's recent correspondence with Mr.
Bergeron, the spokesperson for the Twin Lake Trail area.
page -14-
