Blesener. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener~, LaValle, Fahey, Collova. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declar•ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 511. <br />Mrs. Scalze r•epor~ted that page 7, last par•agr~aph of the October• 7, 1987 <br />Special Council Meeting minutes should be amended to r•eflect that <br />par•k dedication fees would be cr•edited to the Par~k Acquisition Fund, <br />r~ather~ than par•k per~mi t fees. The 1 ast sentence i n that par•agr•aph <br />should be amended changing "par•k per~mit fees" to "par•k char•ges" as well <br />Mr~. Blesener• introduced the following r~esolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-10-484 - APPROVING THE <br />MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 7, 1987 SPECIAI_ <br />COUNCIL MEETING AS AMENDED <br />Public <br />Hear•i ng <br />Centewville <br />Road Par•k <br />Pr•oposal <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 5 <br />The for•egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr•s. Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener~, Scalze, Fahey, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (0), <br />Resolution declar•ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 511. <br />Mayor~ Fahey opened the public hearing to consider• a pr~oposal for the <br />City to pur~chase up to 33.88 acr•es of pr•oper~ty in the Centerville Road <br />ar~ea immediately nor•th of the Montreal Cour~ts apar•tment complex for~ <br />par•k and r•ecr•eation pur•poses. <br />Fahey pointed out that two year~s ago, based on the r~ecommendation of <br />the Par•k Commission, the City consider•ed the pur•chase of 16 acr•es of <br />pr•oper~ty in this same ar~ea for• r~ecr•eational use. <br />Fahey pointed out that the pr•oposal has come up again with the Par•k <br />Commission and the Recr~eation Association r•ecommending in favor~ of <br />the pur•chase. Fahey r~epor~ted that the Recr•eation Association will <br />addr•ess the Council on this matter•, as will Bill Sander•s, r•epr•esenting <br />the Par•k Commission, and Bob Voto, the City's Auditor•, on the issue <br />of the City's financial capability to make such a pur•chase. After• <br />that point, the hear~ing will be opened to comments fr~om the public. <br />acr•es, Nor~th Oaks has 328 acres, Ar•den Hills has 423 acr•es. <br />Fahey also pointed out the r•esults of a Metr~o land study which indicated <br />that Little Canada has 63 acr•es of land in recreational use, including <br />the 4later~ Wor~ks pr•operty, compar~ed with much gr•eater~ amounts for~ <br />sur~r•ounding cities. For• example, Roseville has 729 acr~es of land <br />in r•ecr•eational use, Vadnais Heights has 650 acr~es, Shor•eview has 1,450 <br />Page -2- <br />
