MINUTES <br />City Co~mcit <br />October 14, 198i <br />Center~ville Montr•eal Cour~ts and includes up to thr~ee lots of the AIC pr•oper•ty. <br />Road Par•k Fahey also pointed out that when the Council looked at this pr•oper~ty <br />Pr~oposal in the past, the asking pr•ice r~anged fr~om $12,000 to $15,000 per• <br />(Cont.) acre. <br />Phil Duchar•me, r•esident on Center~ville Road, asked about noise that <br />would be gener~ated fr~om this pr•oposed par~k, and whether~ the par~k <br />entr•ances would be contr•olled at night. <br />Fahey noted that the Ci ty' s cur•r•ent par•k entr•ances ar•e contr~ol 1 ed, <br />and stated that this would be the case in this ar•ea as well. <br />Jim Morelan, Recreation Director, reported that there are gates on <br />the Spooner• Par•k par•king lot entr•ances, which ar~e closed when ther•e <br />i s a pr~obl em. <br />Har•old Fiecher•t, r~esident on Jackson Str•eet, stated that he has been <br />coachi ng gi r•1 s' softbal l for• the past 10 or• 12 year•s, and was i n favor• <br />of the pr•oposal. Fiechert outlined the impr~ovement of the gir•ls' <br />softball pr•ogr•am over• the past few year•s as well as the need for~ <br />additional fields in the City. Fiechert also r•epor~ted that tour•naments <br />can gener•ate a lot of money for• local businesses, but agr~eed that <br />lights should be out at the fields by 10:30 P.M. or• 11:00 P.M. so as <br />not to disturb the neighbor~ing residential properties. <br />alesener~ asked the ages of the childr•en that Fiecher•t has coached. <br />Fiecher•t r~eplied that he has coached fr•om 3r•d gr•ade thr•ough senior~ <br />high school. <br />Nina Costa, resident on Centerville Road, expressed concern about <br />noi se and 1 i ghts fr~om the pr•oposed par~k. <br />Fahey pointed out that it is being assumed that the fields would be <br />lighted. Fahey pointed out the City's effor~ts to wor•k with the <br />residents adjacent to Spooner• Par~k, and felt that the same consider~ation <br />would be gr•anted the pr•oper•ties adjacent to this pr•oposed par~k. <br />Costa stated that she could live with activities in the par•k up until <br />9 or 9:30 P.M., however•, was opposed to fields being lit after~ that <br />time. <br />Blesener stated that if the park proposal is approved, the City would <br />wor•k wi th the nei ghbor~s. <br />LaValle pointed out that County par•ks close 1/2 hour• after~ sunset. <br />Scalze pointed out that the City's or~dinance follows the County's <br />for• par•k closings. <br />Jerry Butler, representing AIC Corporation, reported that his firm <br />would be willing to wor~k with the City on the par~k pr•oposal pr~ovided <br />Page -6- <br />
