MINUTES
City Council
Nov. 4, 1987
Par~k Sur•vey Blesener~ fe1t that the issue of ballfields on the Center•ville Road
Cont, pr•oper•ty shoul d be addr•essed i n the sur•vey.
Scalze did not feel this was necessar•y as it was obvious that ther•e
was a need for• ballfields in the City.
Fahey agr•eed that the City has alr~eady made the decision to develop
ballfields on the Center~ville Road pr•oper•ty, but should deter~mine
what other• facilities might be desir~able on that pr~oper•ty.
Fahey felt that if the City is going to pur•chase the Center~ville
Road pr~oper~ty, a sur•vey should be done to deter~mine what facilities
should be impr•oved on the pr~oper•ty.
Blesener~ agr•eed, but felt that some of the issues should not be
skir•ted, because the City feels it knows the answer•s to these
questions. Blesener commented that in driscussing the park sur~vey
with the Par•k Commission he did not get a good feeling that if
the sur~vey pr•oduced negati ve answers, that the r~esul ts of the sur•vey
would be complied with.
Fahey noted that this decision will be in the hands of the City Council
when i t gets the sur•vey r~esul ts.
Scalze pointed out that the Park Commission is budgeting money to
develop park land, and has nothing to base its plans on. Scalze
pointed out that the Par•k Commission does not want to put a tennis
cour~t i n a par•ti cul ar• ar•ea, i f the peopl e r•esi di ng i n the ar•ea don' t
want a tennis cour•t.
Blesener• stated that he was in favor• of the sur~vey if the r~ight
questions ar•e asked.
Scalze pointed out the lar•ge per~centage of the population of the
City living in multiple dwelling units and the fact that the City
does not always get a good feeling for• what these people would like
to see.
Blesener• stated that he would be in favor• of the sur~vey if the
questions included in the sur•vey ar•e ver~y open to the issues.
Bl esener• al so encour•aged the Par•k Commi ssi on to tr•y to stay wi thi n
the 60 question-units quoted by Mr~. Mor•ris to be included in the
basic char~ge of $4,&00.
Mr•s. Scalze intr•oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-11-534 - AUTHORIZING DECISION
RESOURCES, LTD.
