MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Nov. 25, 1987 <br />Abatement RESOLUTION N0. 87-11-551 - AUTHORIZING <br />Of Nuisance THE BUILDING INSPECTOR TO TAKE THE <br />(Cont.) NECESSARY ACTION TO CLEAN UP THE DEBRIS ON <br />THE SCHWEITZER AND AIC CORPORATION PROPERTY <br />AND ASSESS THE COST AGAINST THE PROPERTY IF <br />THE NUISANCE HAS NOT BEEN ABATED BY <br />DECEMBER 9, 1987 <br />The for~egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr•. Collova. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Collova, LaValle, Blesener•, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declar~ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 603. <br />DNR Flood The City Engineer~ r•epor~ted that the State has r~ecently passed a law <br />Gr•ants making State gr•ants available for~ flood contr•ol. However•, ther•e ar•e <br />limitations as to how the funds can be used. Items such as digging <br />Agenda ditches, installing stor•m sewer~s ar•e not eligible. However•, items <br />Item No. 9 such as house r~elocation, building dikes, ar•e. <br />The Engineer• explained that the gr~ant amount can r•each $75,000, <br />however~, the gr•ant cannot cover• mor•e than 50% of the cost of a <br />project. Deadline for application is December 31. <br />Blesener~ repor~ted that he has discussed the matter~ with the Public <br />ldor•ks Super•intendent who has indicated that r•aising of houses, lake <br />control, dams to control flow of water into Lake Gervais as well as <br />topogr•aphical maps of the City ar•e some items that would be funded <br />thr•ough the gr•ant. <br />Scalze asked if the gr•ant could be used for• pr•ivate pr•ojects. <br />The Engineer• r•eplied that only public pr•ojects ar•e eligible. <br />Scal ze asked i f the gr~ant coul d be used for• r•el ocati on of cul ver~ts <br />near• the Eng pr~oper~ty. <br />The Engineer• did not think so, but indicated that the cr•iter•ia for• <br />the gr~ant is somewhat vague and he would have to contact the DNR <br />to deter~mine whether• a pr•oject was eligible. <br />The City Engineer• also pointed out that in tr~ying to r•esolve the <br />Eng dr~ainage pr•oblem, ther•e would be some cost par•ticipation on the <br />par~t of the County and State, and per~haps the City's por•tion of the <br />cost could be funded thr•ough the gr•ant. <br />The Engineer• r•epor•ted that he met with the Eng's as well as the County <br />and it was decided that the culver•t in fr•ont of the Eng pr~oper~ty <br />will be raised and a catch basin installed. Also, the cur•bing in <br />fr•ont of the Eng pr•oper•ty wi 11 be added to. The Engi neer• di d not <br />Paae -8- <br />
