MINUTFS OF THE WORKSHOP PIEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />Januar•y 6, 1988 <br />Pur~suant to due call and notice ther•eof a wor•kshop meeting of the <br />Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the <br />6th day of January, 198R in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center• located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor• Michael Fahey chair•ed the meeting and called it to or•der• at <br />7:35 P.M. and the following member~s of the Council wer•e pr•esent at <br />roll ca11: <br />MEMQERS PRESENT: Mayor~ Mr~. Kathleen Glanzer• <br />~9ayor~ Fahey r•epor•ted that the pur•pose of thi s eveni ng's workshop <br />meeting is to r•eview with Decision Resour•ces, Inc. the pr~oposed <br />question/topic list for~ the City's upcoming park sur•vey. <br />Lor•r•aine Pelton, El~i Road, asked how people would be selected to <br />r•espond to the sur•vey. <br />Fahey explained that the sur~vey fir•m, Decision Resour~ces, Inc., would <br />be selecting a r~andom sample consisting of ~t00 of the City's residents <br />to complete the sur•vey. Fahey explained that the r~andom sample is <br />selected based on telephone digits and the sur•vey fir•m has assur•ed <br />the City and a 400 random sample would provide a good r~epresentative <br />cr~oss-section of City r~esidents. <br />Pelton pointed out that she lives acr•oss the str•eet fr•om Spooner Par•k <br />and asked the Council for• infor•mation on the City's lease with the <br />School Distr•ict for• the par•k as well as the City's plans for• pur~chasing <br />the pr•oper~ty. <br />Scalze explained that ther•e wer•e two leases with the Schoot Distr•ict <br />for~ the pr•oper•ty, one lease being for• 15 year~s and the other~ a 10-year~ <br />lease. Scalze also pointed out that the lease can be br•oken at any <br />time by the School Distr•ict. <br />Pelton asked the City's plans for• pur~chase of the par•k pointing out <br />the lar•ge amount of money the City has invested in the par~k. <br />Fahey r~eplied that the City has infor~med the School Distr•ict that it is <br />inter•ested in pur•chasing Spooner• Par~k. Both the City and the School <br />Distr•ict have obtained appr•aisals on the pr~operty, however•, Fahey <br />admitted that the City has not pur•sued the pur~chase as actively at <br />it could have. <br />Page -1- <br />
