MINUTES
City Council
March 9, 1988
Debris
Complaints
(Cont.)
F i r•e
Inspections
Agenda
Item No. 15
Par•k
Survey
Agenda
Item No. 16
Fahey felt lar•ger• items should be addr~essed so that ar~eas can be
cleaned up when the owner~ will not do so voluntar•ily.
LaValle r~epor•ted that in other• cities the Sher•iff's Depar•tment will
cite a pr•oper•ty owner~ when ther~e is a complaint about debr•is. The
pr~oper•ty owner~ must then appear• in cour~t and is instr•ucted by the
judge to clean up a proper•ty. The pr~oper•ty must be cleaned up as ~
condition of a fine within a cer•tain amount of time.
The City Attor•ney r•eported that he will r•eview the or~dinance.
Collova stated that he will have the Building Inspector• discuss the
matter~ with the City Attor~ney as well.
Collova r•epor•ted that the Fir•e Chief has expr•essed concer•n that fir~e
inspections ar•e not getting done on a timely basis. Collova r•epor•ted
that he has discussed this with the Building Inspector~ and suggested
that he put a check list together• on equipment that is needed in
buildings and send it would to businesses notif, ying them of an upcoming
fir•e inspection and the fir•e pr•otection equipment that is needed in
their• building. Collova felt that if fir~e inspections wer•e scheduled
in an or•der•ly fashion it would be easier• for• the Building Inspector• to
get them done.
Dlesener• suggested that if the Building Inspector~ does not have the
time to complete fir~e inspections, it may be necessar~y for~ the City
to hir•e an outside consultant to do these inspections.
Fahey suggested that he and Collova meet with the Fir~e Inspector~
and r•eview the matter• and r•epor•t back to the Council.
Scal ze r•epor•ted that the Ci ty' s par•k sur~vey i s i n pr•ocess and an
initial r~epor•t is expected sometime in Apr•il. Scalze asked if the
Council wanted to review the report or have the Park Commission do
the initial r~eview. The r~epor~t would only be a pr~eliminar~y r•epor~t
at that time.
Due to the timing of the City's consider•ations of the Capital View
matter~ as well as addition to Little Canada Elementar~y School and the
need for public input into these areas, Council felt it should receive
the initial park sur~vey report at its April 13th meeting with Park
Commission r~eview at their• Apr•il 21st meeting. If possible, Council
r~equested copi es of the r~epor~t pr•i or• to thei r~ meeti ng.
Gor~dy Howe The Council r~eviewed pr•oposed development plans for~ Lot 1, Block 1,
Driveway Lake View Addition wher•ein Mr~. Gor•dy Howe is proposing dr~iveway access
Concept fr•om the r•oad easement to the nor~th of thi s 1 ot r•ather~ than fr~om
Edger~ton.
Page -13-
