MI~IUTES <br />City Council <br />Mar~ch 9, 1988 <br />Announce- in the cost of an addition onto the Little Canada Elementar~y School <br />ments as well as consider•ation of the disposition of Capital View School. <br />(Cont.) <br />Fahey r~epor•ted that the City pr•eviously had a committee study <br />possible City par~ticipation in an addition onto Little Canada <br />School about a year• ago. Since that time the Capital View facility <br />has been put on the mar•ket. <br />Fahey r~epor•ted that as a r•esult of tonight's discussions, that <br />committee will meet again and study the var•ious issues and will <br />n correction Y'~,~,~~'~~ their recommendation at the next Council meeting to be held <br />res.883-98 ,~,~¢~~.~,,.~p3rd at 6:30 P.M. <br />Fahey also r•epor~ted that ther~e will be a joint wor•kshop of the Council <br />and Planning Commission tomor~r~ow evening at appr•oximately 8:30 P.M. <br />to discussion the possibility of amending the City's Public Zoning <br />Code to allow pr•ivate and secondar~y pr•ivate schools in a Public Zoning. <br />Centerville Fahey reported that the City has received a letter from the 4th graders <br />Road Ar~ea at Little Canada Elementar~y School r•egar~ding the City's possible pur~chase <br />of par~k land in the Center•ville Road ar•ea. The 4th gr•ader~s have <br />suggested sever~al possibilities for~ the development of this par•k <br />land and encour~aged the City to pr•oceed to make the purchase. <br />Fahey thanked the 4th gr•ader~s for• thei r~ i nput. <br />Project Fahey read a letter from the director of Project Clean-Up which is <br />Clean-Up trying to eliminate por~nogr•aphy on Cable TV. Fahey r~epor•ted that the <br />letter is on file for any interested citizens to review, noting that <br />the letter• outlines var•ious things that pr•ivate citizens can do to <br />take a stand against the broadcasting of por~nogr•aphy on Cable TV. <br />Fahey r•epor~ted that when the Ci ty fi r~st appr~oved the Cabl e TV fr•anchi se <br />agr~eement, i t was assur•ed that no por•nogr•aphy woul d be br•oadcast on <br />Cable, and the City expects the pr~esent Cable TV company to abide by <br />this aqr~eement. <br />Fahey commented that in the judgment of the Council it is not appr~o- <br />pr~iate to use public wave lengths to br•oadcast pr•onogr•aphy. <br />Fahey r•epor•ted that when a r•esponse is r•eceived fr•om the City's Cable <br />TV company, the Council will report fuwther to the public on this matter. <br />Capitol Larr•y Mazzatello, repr•esenting Capitol Community Ser~vices, r•epor•ted <br />Community that his agency is pr•esently located at 2900 Rice Str~eet in the <br />Ser•vices P4ar•ket Place. Capitol Community Ser•vices is a human ser~vice agency <br />which is funded in par~t by the United I~ay and pr•ovides an emer•gency <br />food shelf as well as counseling ser•vices. <br />P1azzatello r~eported that on Thursday, Mar~ch 10, the agency would be <br />Page -2- <br />
